The Commissioner was a guest of honour at this glittering event on board the HQS Wellington, moored on the banks of the River Thames in the City of London.

The event marked the installation of Ken Tappenden MBE as Chairman of the Beadles Guild  for the forthcoming year (2013.) The event was attended by many of the Beadle’s from the City of London Livery companies, their partners and guests as well as several guests of honour and speakers including Paul Leppard Commissioner-City of London Police. In the picture above the Commissioner is accompanied by two Thames Watermen. The evening comprised a wonderful champagne reception, four course meal , speeches and entertainment aboard the HQS Wellington, as well as awards and the installation of Ken Tappenden as Chairman of the Guild.

Paul Leppard Commissioner-City of London Police took up his position as Commissioner – City of London Police in January 2011 after originally serving in the Surrey Police and then the Kent Police as a Chief Officer. Ken Tappenden MBE is one of the UK’s leading Master of Ceremonies and Toastmasters. Ken retired after  32 years service in the Kent Police as an Area Commander, responsible for over 1,000 staff and was the events manager for the City of Rochester for six years and is now a leading Toastmaster and Master of Ceremonies.

The Beadles’ Guild, formed in 1992 is focused on assisting Livery Company Beadles and Hall Managers to uphold the traditions of the City of London and it’s Livery Companies and to raise charitable funds. For more information on the Beadles Guild please click here.

The HQS Wellington is the last survivor of the Grimsby Class of Sloops from the Second World War and has been moored on the banks of the River Thames in the City of London since 1948 and is the home of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners, a City of London Livery Company. to find out more about the HQS Wellington please click here.
