Solway Firth Sunset.
On a beautiful evening in April I was lucky enough to witness this spectacular Solway Firth sunset.
The view looks over the Solway Firth towards Scotland from a hill top just south of Moota near Cockermouth in the Lake Distrct.
The air was beautifully hushed…..with only birdsong and the slightest breeze breathing life into the windmill’s sails to break the silence.
Suddenly the sky exploded with colour
I was all alone on the hill, with just the slight hum of the windmill’s sails gently rotating in the half light and nature putting on the most amazing show right in front of my eyes. This brought a wonderful feeling of peace and quite as there was no other human activity or noise to spoil the magic of the moment. The only thing I wished was that my family was with me as they had elected to stay in our holiday home when I suggest an evening walk.
A few minutes before the sky was nothing special, just a dull grey evening with a weak and pale sun marking the end of a day that had been spent climbing on Skiddaw….and then the sky suddenly exploded with colour as the sun started to slip behind the hills of the Galloway coast across the water in Scotland.
I was really lucky to experience this magnificent Solway Firth sunset, if your ever get the chance to visit this part beautiful of England you never know…. you might have a similar experience.
