Ipswich Photographer on the Jungfrau – On a bitterly cold morning in May, (full mountaineering down jacket required) we were on the Jungfraujoch, which at 11,782 ft or 3,571 mts is the high altitude pass between the Jungfrau and the Monch in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. The Avalanche risk was high, so we could not get onto the ice for a trek across the Aletsch Glacier to the Mönch.

The Jungfrau stands at 13,642 ft or 4,158mts and together with the Eiger and Mönch, the Jungfrau forms a massive wall overlooking the Bernese Oberland and is considered one of the most emblematic sights of the Swiss Alps.
I was able to capture this image of the Jungfrau due to the weather conditions on this perfect morning. We were truly privileged to be at this height and be several hundred meters above the clouds, with a clear view and no wind! What a great place for mountain and adventure photography. There are only a few days every year when the weather is this clear and the summit so beautifully on display. This was probably one of the most perfect days to be at high altitude and experiences and views like this are why we keep coming back to the mountains.
