Under the musical direction of Steve Fletcher, The London Banqueting Ensemble is quite simply a brilliant collection of top class musicians specialising in music for dinner functions, weddings and all special occasions.
The London Banqueting Ensemble will dress in military style “Mess Dress” uniforms and their musicians include Fanfare Trumpeters, String Quartet, Salon Orchestra, Brass Quintet and many more.
I had the pleasure of photographing Steve and the Ensemble this autumn at The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers Fusiliers’ Dinner held at the Clothworkers Hall in the City of London.
The Ensemble provided a marvellous Trumpet Fanfare to call the guests to dinner and played “Roast Beef of Old England” as the guests were entering the dining room, as well as paying background music while the guests were dining.
On this occasion, the musical pièce de résistance of the evening was the Post Horn Gallop which has become a tradition in the City of London. Steve Fletcher and the Ensemble play the piece as a fun and wonderfully entertaining duel between two trumpets as they walk amongst the tables, one trumpet trying to out perform the other, much to the delight of the guests.
