Finishing Line winners power through the tape at the end of the Great East Run 2019.
First over the line to complete the half marathon was Christopher Thompson from the Aldershot, Farnham and District Athletics Club. He ran an amazing time of 1:06:43 for the 13.1 mile course. Three minutes later local runner Andrew Rooke of Framingham Flyers crossed the line taking second place in 1:09:39, closely followed by Danny Rock of Felixstowe Road Running Club who took third place in 1:10:22.
The first female runner to cross the finishing line was Lauren Deadman. Lauren is from Havering Athletics Club and completed the half marathon distance in 1:19:03. The second placed woman finisher was Sophie Delderfield of Aylesbury Athletics Club, completing the distance in 1:22.21. Third place woman competitor was Alice Heather-Hayes. Alice is a local runner from Hadleigh Hares Athletics Club and she finished the race in 1:27:40.
There were many personal stories and victories played out during the race, but for many of the runners crossing the finishing line changed their lives forever, no matter how fast or slow their personal times, each runner’s journey was a personal triumph.
