It was a privilege and an honour to be asked to photograph the City of London Beadles’ Guild with the Lord Mayor 2016-17.
The photograph of Andrew Palmley, the Lord Mayor 2016-17 and the City of London Beadles’ Guild was taken in the magnificent surroundings of the Art Gallery at the Guildhall in the City of London. It captures a bit of history as the photo was taken in the last few days of Andrew Palmley’s term in office, just before Charles Bowman took over as the new Lord Mayor of the City of London for 2017/18.
Ted Prior, current chairman of the City of London Beadles’ Guild presents a cheque to the Lord Mayor, Andrew Palmley. The money, which was raised by a variety of charitable events over the year, will go towards the Lord Mayor’s appeal.
The Beadles of the City of London make a vital contribution the the life of the City of London Livery companies. The Guild was formed in 1992 with the purpose of uniting all Livery Company Beadles for Social events and to preserve the traditions of the City of London and to raise money for charitable causes. It also helps to train and assist new Beadles in matters of protocol.
Alderman Andrew Parmley was elected to be the 689th Lord Mayor of the City of London on the 11th November 2016, and served one term. He succeeded Lord Mayor Jeffrey Mountevans. The Lord Mayor 2016-17 served as the global ambassador for the UK based financial and professional services and acted as a leading spokesman for the City of London, leading overseas delegations that strengthened economic ties internationally around the world.
